9/16/13 weekly update

Hey everyone! WOW this week has been eventful, I forgot my journal so I will have to try to remember everything. Last tuesday was my first district meeting, it was pretty fun. The sisters made cookies which was sweet! We have been doing two days a week of our additional study (the training one) with another set of missionaries that are training, the ones in Sand Lake, Elder Nelson and Elder Osterhout. Elder Osterhout was my MTC zone leader, so its cool to be around him. Elder Nelson is way cool, I hope I get to serve with him. He is super chill and obedient and he was a fire fighter before coming out. He just got his wisdom teeth out so he's been staying at the mission office while Elder Osterhout works with Elder Springer and I. Wednesday I went to try to get a drivers license, but its so hard! You need like a million things of ID, and I don't have my SS Card with me, so I went to get a duplicate and had to wait there forever. So I still don't have the cool Alaska Drivers License. Its ok, we will go again next week I think. I hope I can pass the test haha. I experienced my first Earthquake here. It was kinda scary, but only lasted for like 5 seconds. The whole house was shaking though, I didn't really know what was happening at first. It was like a 4.7 on the richter scale. Had our first trainign meeting, everyone in the mission was "there." The ones who aren't in Anchorage conference in by computer, its pretty cool. They unveiled the training plan for the next 3 months, "Glad tidings of Great Joy." It has a bunch of scriputers about joy and stuff, and we study it 10 minutes a day of our personal study. It gives great ideas for spiritual thoughts and stuff. We have been visitiing a ton of less actives, and the work is picking up. The ward is about to be reorganised, so hopefully that will boost our work too. I hope we get to go to the meeting where the announce it, I've never seen that before. I got really sick last week, I think I had strep. It's been going around all the missionaries here. I didn't sit in or stay in bed, I worked through it. I was kind of grumpy though lol. But I could turn on MIssionary Mode when we went to doors and appointments. I've become really good friends with all the senior couples in the mission office. Elder and Sister Ferrin, Elder and sister Thomas, and Elder and Sister Rock. Sister Thomas loves me and thinks I'm the most interesting person she knows haha. Thats just because she hasn't gotten to know me yet ;) Well I love and miss you all. I hope things are well for all of you! I love reading your emails, keep them coming!! Love, Elder Pawson
