9/30/13 weekly update

Hey everyone! This week was pretty good. It's been getting colder and the mountains have snow on them, so it shouldn't be long until we have snow on the ground. It will stay there until May too, kinda crazy. We worked really hard this week, and we are having some success. That baptism I talked about last week, well, funny story. After Elder Springer and I set everything up, called everyone, spent 3 hours filling the font (yea it takes that long), we found out he wasn't in our ward either, since the boundaries changed that sunday. Talk about frustrating! But he was baptised and he was confirmed, and is a great member and thats all that really matters! This week was fast and testimony week, and it was a lot different than home. There were times that no one was going up, and we all sat there in silence. Not what I'm used to in Wyoming, thats for sure. Elder Springer and I didn't feel like we should go up, so there were minutes here and there where there was no talking. But the spirit was strong and it was a good silence. We had an investigator there, and he started crying too, it was really powerful. We took our car to get a flat fixed today, and the senior missionary in charge of the cars, Elder Ferrin, just said to get the snow tires put on. We are the only m ission that changes all the cars tires to snow tires in the mission, which is cool. What isn't cool is that the tire guy never showed up for work, and the regular guys tried to change the tires, but they couldn't. So we had to walk to the mission office, a few miles away, and Elder Ferrin gave us a temporary car. All my stuff was in teh other car though, like my scriptures and my writing notebook for letters, and my camera. So I have no pictures to send again!!! I'm so frustrated because I have a lot of pictures to send you guys!! Next week for sure, I really really promise! I've been going on tradeoffs since my companion is a district leader, and it stinks. I dont know how you guys do it, but I don't like working someone elses area!! I like teaching the people here, and knowing where stuff is haha. Its like i'm transferred to a whole new area! its ok though, the work is all the same and the spirit feels the same! The gospel is still true, as my zone leaders say. My tradeoff this week is with Elder Nelson. Everyone calls him my real dad because we are so similiar. We'll be at district meeting and I"ll say somethign that you guys would expect me to say, but that other people will think is strange, and he'll just be like, "Thats my boy!" haha. My distrcit is pretty fun! I miss all you guys alot! I hope you are all well. If you want to send me letters at all, my address is Elder Douglas James Pawson II Alaska Anchorage Mission 3250 Strawberry Rd Anchorage, AK 99502 Love you all! Love Elder pawson
