9/23/13 weekly update

Hey everyone! This week was crazy! Tuesday was normal, went to language training, had district meeting and district lunch, Then just worked for the rest of the day. Went on Tradeoffs with Klatt district since my trainer is the DL, so I worked with Elder Tingey. He was Aspergers and its pretty pronounced. It was different working with him but we worked well and had a great time. His companion went to the doctor with my trainer, since the transfer before, he lost the tip of his finger chopping wood for service. Gross I know, but the surgery went well last month and this was just a check up. Turns out he had an infection in his bone and he had to go into surgery the next morning at 6 am, basically asap. Elder Springer and I took him to that, and stayed there while he was in surgery. It just so happened that Pres. Beesley was doing interviews in fairbanks, and couldn't make it back, so Elder Springer and I had to sit at the mission home all day, until our zone leaders came and took over for a few hours so we could work. We stayed at the mission home from Thurs-Saturday and only got to work a few hours each day, kinda stunk. We never got much sleep either because we had to wait up for Pres to get back home thursday night, which was about 12, and the next night we had to wait up for some YSAs from Juneau to come up beacuse they were going to the temple. We weren't running on a lot of sleep, but it was ok. We have a baptism on wednesday, kinda short notice I know, but this guy was being taught at his girlfriends house for a few weeks, and they just found out he lives in our ward. He isn't too thrilled about not being able to attend the same service as his girlfriend, but we are teaching him of the blessings of stewardship and I think he will come around. We had been working really hard during the week of the surgery, and staying obedient as we could, since we had to stay up late per president, I guess the Lord didn't hold that against us. This baptism has really energized the ward into helping us with whatever they can, which is definately a nice change. They finally created the new ward and adjusted all the boundaries, so now everyone can stop using that as an excuse. I got my haircut today from one of those beauty school places, and it was ok. She really messed up my hair and her teacher had to come fix it. It really had me missing El Elegante. Do you guys still teach Brian? It snowed here today, we have a couple inches on the ground. I hear it wont last though, which is unfortunate. I love snow and am so ready for it. The average temperature is about 30 degrees too, I hear its below zero in Barrow, I can't wait to serve there. Well thats how things are up here. We have been teaching a lot and we are making great progress, I am absolutely loving it. I'm so thankful for my MTC teachers, I feel they really prepared me to serve up here. As always, feel free to email me any questions you have or anything, or if you want to send me mail I'll include my address here. Love you all!
