11/4/13 weekly update!
Hello everyone!
This week was fantastatic!! We had a ton of meetings and service and trainings, but we still almost made our goals! It was awesome.
I forgot my camera cord, but I have some pictures from Bella Neff's baptism I can send. I have some cool pics to send next week too!
On Monday we visit the Neffs, and last week their power was out, so they were lighting the house with Candles. it felt like we were back in Joseph Smiths time. Right as we were having the closing prayer, and asking for the lights to come on, they turned on! it was awesome.
Wednesday we taught Deanna Crabb. I'm not sure if I mentioned her before. She was baptised 20 years ago, went to church once, and went inactive. Elder Springer went over there a few weeks before I got here, and she told them nicely that her visiting teachers were enough for her, she didn't want to meet with us. We went back together and testified of the restoration, and she felt the spirit so strongly that she really wanted us to come teach her. She has been reading faithfully and praying, and having some great spiritual experiences. She started crying while reading once, and she doesn't know why. She shared the gospel with her son too, and we are starting to teach him! I can't wait to go back!
Elder Nelson just walked by and said I can use his camera cord! I'll upload some more pics for ya. The third pic is of a guy we met at a less actives house. His name is greg and he is from Michigan! I saw his U.P. bumper sticker and had to take a pic with him. Doesn't he just look like what you think Alaska is? hah.
We had to come in early on Halloween, at 7pm. It was lame but we got to write letters, so that is cool.
On Sunday I had a bad experience with one of the less actives we are teaching. She basically yelled at me for coming over too much. She said she was offended by how many times we stopped by (once or twice a week). She was mad that we stopped by after her surgery too. We did that to check up on her, as I'm sure you've guessed. But she did this in front of a lot of the ward council, and it was pretty humiliating. It was really hurtful because I really love her and her family and didn't think we were smothering her at all. We have dinner on friday there, that will be interesting.
we had dinner at the Jone's house the other night, she is the new releif society president and is awesome! Her two boys age 6 and 3 are hilarious too. One of them asked the boys to get a roll, and the 6 year old grabs it and says, "Ron I got you a smushed one." and then right infront of him, smushes it in his hand! Everyone was laughing so hard, it was hilarious!!!
One of the less actives we are teaching is moving to washington, but he is really into music. I mentioned I was learning Clarinet and that I could make noise on a flute, and he gave me his old flute and told me to start practising! Its pretty sweet! Its old but it still makes noise. It's a student model so its easier for me to play than Melissa's professional one haah.
All in ALl, it was a great week. I hope you are all well! I'll send more pics in a nother email or two!
Love ya!!
Elder Pawson
